【摘要】:Cationconductivityprovidesoneofthemostsensitiveanddependableon-linemeansofdetectinganioniccontaminationintheboiler/steamcycle,suchaschlorides,sulfates,nitrates,bicarbonates,andorganicacids,suchasformicandacetic.HighsensitivityisprovidedbyintentionallyeliminatingthepHadjustingtreatmentchemical(s),forexample,ammoniaandamines,fromthesampleandconvertingremainingsaltcontaminantsintotheiracidformswhichareapproximatelythreetimesasconductive.GuidelinesoncationconductivitylimitsforvariouscyclechemistryandboilertypeshavebeenestablishedbyEPRI(2-4)andbyASME(5,6).Thesampleeffluentfromthecationexchangecolumnalsomaybeused,andinsomecasesispreferred,forionchromatographyorotheranionmeasurements.1.1Thispracticedescribescontinuoussampleconditioningbyhydrogenionexchangeandmeasurementbyelectrolyticconductivity.Itiscommonlyknownascationconductivitymeasurementinthepowerindustryalthoughitisactuallyanindicationofanioncontaminationinhighpuritywatersamples.Measurementsaretypicallyinarangelessthan1S/cm.1.2TheactualconductivitymeasurementsaremadeusingTestMethodD5391.1.3Thispracticedoesnotprovideforseparatedeterminationofdissolvedcarbondioxide.RefertoTestMethodsD2186andD4519.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
